The dogs just wander between people and around town scrounging for food.
The second photo shows a fruit-stand on the side of the road, as well as the front part of a tuk-tuk scooter.
The last photo shows a tuk-tuk with 8 people in it! We were trying to figure out who actually was the driver. I think it's the second from their right (our left).
Here are some videos of New Delhi so far.
The second video from New Delhi: on our way to the office we notice this corner where there are a bunch of cows that congregate to rummage through trash for food.
The cows are holy in Hinduism. So we're guessing that people drop scraps of food at this corner for the cows. From what I've heard, the cows are sacred so no one dares to touch them. The cows can go wherever they please. As as result, the cows sometimes gather together where there is food. Sometimes a bunch of them will lay down in the middle of a highway and cause huge traffic jams.
In this video, it's a relatively uncrowded street. But as you can see, the cows are standing in the middle of the intersection and even start to run towards the car at the end.
The third video shows part of the drive to work on some streets through a smallish part of town. Part of the way is on the highway, but that's relatively boring. The side streets are more interesting, showing "tuk-tuk" 3-wheeled scooter carts, cows, bicycles, street vendors, and LOTS of people.
We were walking to dinner and walked by a street-side market. It was several blocks long and had all kinds of things.
You can see they have some dresses. But they also have various jewelry, necklaces, rings, shoes, statues, shawls, etc...
I didn't buy anything, but will probably buy some later.
You can see two of the ladies I work with Pennee from Thailand (on the left) and Minema from Inda (on the right).
I always HEARD about cows roaming freely in the streets, but I didn't really know the extent... but it's TRUE.
They seem to congregate in less-congested roads (for their own safety).
But they said the reason is because they're sacred to Hindus (who are the majority in India). Since they are, they let them roam freely wherever they want.
This picture is from driving on the way to the office. This is from street where there a bunch of cows congregating to root through the trash on the side of the street.
Did anyone see that John Cusack movie in the last year or two? It was a scary/creepy movie about a haunted hotel room.
That movie name was '1408', after the room number.
Well, my room is NEXT to room 1408 (i'm in 1409). I haven't heard any screams or people dying (yet), but we'll see...
finished work around 7pm, heading to asian restaurant that's in the hotel for dinner, then maybe go for a light jog (if I'm not too full).
Oh my. This is literally how it went down, seconds after they got in the car while picking them up from school:
"Daddy! I got a number. From who? Her name is Allison. Can I use your phone?"
I'm not sure what to say to that. I seriously doubt Kaleb would be forward enough to ASK for a number. So the girl probably GAVE it to him.
On top of that, she wrote it on the granola-bar wrapper that he had for a snack! Oh my goodness, I think I'm gonna have to keep a shotgun to keep the girls away.
I told Christina, and she said she got all flush/flabbergasted. And needless to say, we want to know the details of the story.
