I forgot to upload this video from a while ago.
This was taken over the summer (about 6 months ago).
It looks pretty cool, but actually the program is pretty simple.... so it's pretty close to just slapping things together.
Ms. Mac (Kaleb's teacher, Ms. MacWilliams) sits down to help Kaleb feel more at home on his first day at school.
We hung around the classroom for a few minutes while other (late) kids showed up to class.
The school was pretty chaotic, lots of parents, lots of kids, lots of cars, and NO BUSES! What the hell?!? Apparently, if you leave <3 miles from the school you can't take the bus.
It's not a big deal for us, since hopefully we can start to ride our bikes to school when the whether gets cooler. But 3 miles is pretty far for some kids/parents.
Kaleb waits patiently for his other table-mates to arrive (there are 4-5 kids per table).
And Christina says goodby on Kaleb's first day at elementary school kindergarten.
Kaleb walks into his kindergarten classrom for the first time.
The last picture is of Kaleb's desk-mates. Notice that there are 3 girls at his table. I think there is supposed to be at least 1 other boy, but maybe he wasn't there yet. (They were assigned tables).
His teacher is Ms. MacWilliams (Ms. Mac). She seems quite nice and is somehow able to watch what each kid needs out of the corner of her eye (impressive).
The school is really nice, lots of windows in the hallways.
His classroom has ~4 tables and ~18 kids. There are lockers in the room for the kids, 3 computers, lots of arts/crafts stuff, painting easels, and even their own bathroom IN the classroom!
It's scary, it's uncoordinated, but it's all in good fun.
We arrived at 9am, and they went on around 10am. It was part of the Piratedays.org festival by the lake, in our neighborhood.
They were the only 'hip hop' group. Most of the kids in his group are 7-8 years old, and he just turned 5, so I figure he did pretty well considering... even not counting age, I thought he great (am I biased?).
Anyway, this is a short 2-minute clip of their dance routine. I especially like the 'helicopter' part, and the attitude-pose at the end. Everyone in the group was supposed to 'throw attitude' at the end, but I guess he was the only one who remembered.
Christina, Kierra, and Lupita (Christina's mom) also attended. I think they're going back later today or Sunday... but I have to fly out to Germany for the week (at the airport typing this now)... and actually, I captured and converted the video while Christina drove to the airpor
Kaleb rides a full-size pirate ship for the first time! It looks like is stomach was floating a few times! Afterward, he said he really liked it, and that he wasn't scared.
Kaleb was enthralled with this table-top game at a nearby park. He played this until beat the maze. Man, he loves mazes... Either like this, or in books, or on the computer...
